Who We Are

I’ve tried so many different professions and none of them made me feel like my work was important to the world. That changed when I started working with Pura Sanguine. Today, my work serves a purpose by helping abandoned animals, giving them the attention and love they deserve.

I’ve been working with animals ever since I was a little girl, from having my own dogs and horse growing up, to taking veterinary technician classes and showing cattle throughout high school. Caring for animals has always been my passion. I love my job. All of these little Heroes truly have my heart.

For as long as I can remember I have always dreamed of helping animals in any way that I could. Knowing that what we do here saves countless lives day in and day out, and at the same time getting all of the hugs and licks that my heart desires, makes life that much sweeter. The best part of my day is saying goodbye to every Little Hero that finds their forever home. Thanks to Pura Sanguine I now get to live out my dreams every single day.

As a child growing up in post-Katrina New Orleans, I was constantly getting into trouble for giving away all of my food to the neighborhood strays. I had taken it appon myself to care for them. At a young age, I knew no matter what I decided to do in life, I would always help any animal that needed it. Pura Sanguine has made that mission a life-long career for me.

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve grown up with many cats and dogs as well as lots of exotic little friends. My first job was working with dogs, just being around them melted my heart. When I found Pura Sanguine, I knew it was something i’d love. It is now a passion of mine to get these Little Heroes to a good and loving home.

“Getting to work with an insane amount of dogs and possibly take one or two home, all while helping save the lives of numerous other dogs, what more could you ask for. I realized my love for dogs once I got one of my own and I fell in love with Boxers and Terriers. I love coming to work and seeing all of the wagging tails and smiling faces, it really makes it worth it.”

Alex is a vet tech with more than 20 years of experience, focusing on Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and most recently, transfusion medicine. He also previously operated a blood bank.

Wes has spent his entire career in the veterinary industry with companies such as Novartis, Eli Lilly, Best Friends, and Valley Veterinary Care.
